MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard that lets AI tools like Claude connect to external data sources. Once you add the Porter connector, Claude can pull your marketing data — Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4, Shopify, and 20+ more — directly inside any chat, without leaving Claude.
The connection is read-only: Claude can analyze and present your data, but cannot change anything in your ad accounts.
A Porter Metrics account with at least one marketing data source connected (Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4, Shopify, etc.). Start a free trial if you don't have one yet.
Claude Desktop or claude.ai (web) — signed in with a paid plan or the free tier on claude.ai.
About 5 minutes.
The easiest way is to install Porter from Claude's plugin marketplace. Open Claude, go to Connectors, search for Porter, and install it. The plugin updates automatically and requires no manual URL setup.
If your workspace can't install plugins, add the connector manually in 6 steps:
Open Claude Desktop or claude.ai. Click the + icon in the chat input.
Hover over Connectors and click Manage connectors.
Click the + at the top of the Connectors panel, then select Add custom connector.
Name your connector Porter. In the Remote MCP server URL field, paste:
https://mcp.portermetrics.com/mcpClick Add. Claude opens Porter's sign-in page — click Continue with Google and pick the account linked to your Porter workspace. No password needed.
After sign-in, Claude shows Porter's read-only tools (list_accounts, list_fields, query_data, etc.). Click back to return to your chats.
After adding the connector, open a new Claude chat and paste this URL:
https://mcp.portermetrics.com/installClaude reads Porter's quick guide and learns how to connect accounts, pull data, and handle errors — so it works right from your first prompt. When it finishes, ask "what can Porter do?"
If you use Claude Code in the terminal, register Porter with one command:
claude mcp add --transport http portermetrics https://mcp.portermetrics.com/mcpThe next time you start a session, Claude will open your browser to sign in with Google. After that, run /mcp list to confirm portermetrics appears as connected.
In any Claude chat with Porter enabled, type:
"Using Porter, list all the data source accounts I have connected."
Claude should return a list of your accounts grouped by platform (e.g. Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4). If you see the list, you're set.
Ask plain-English questions: "Which Meta Ads campaigns had the highest ROAS last week?"
Blend sources on the fly: "Compare Google Ads spend vs. GA4 revenue for the last 30 days."
Generate client-ready reports: "Draft this month's report for Client X with Google Ads spend, GA4 sessions, and Shopify revenue."
Diagnose dips: "Why did our ROAS drop on Tuesday?"
Automate recurring work: pair with Claude Code's scheduled tasks to receive a Monday-morning KPI digest.
The MCP is included in your Porter plan at no extra cost. Porter charges per data source account you connect — the same account you already use for Data Studio, Google Sheets, or BigQuery works in Claude too. No double billing.
Sign-in window doesn't open: disable pop-up blockers for claude.ai and try again.
"No accounts found": make sure you signed in with the same Google account that has data sources connected in Porter.
Claude says it can't access Porter: go to Claude Settings → Connectors, find Porter, and toggle it on. You may need to sign in again.
Empty results: check the date range — some platforms have a 48-hour data delay.
