How to set up a Instagram Insights report on Google Data Studio

Learn to connect your Instagram Profiles data to automate your reports on Google Data Studio.

Here's how to make your 1st Instagram Insights report on Google Data Studio with Porter in 3 steps.

1) Authorize your connector

Authorize your Google account

After accessing the Instagram Insights connector, authorize your Google account on Data Studio.

Click the AUTHORIZE button:

Then select the account you will use in Google Data Studio, now our connector lets you select different Instagram accounts and report between them.

If you select Next choose your Instagram account, you will be sent to the last account that you connect to.

If you want to add a new one, click on Connect a new account.

You will continue to authorize the connection if is need it.

Click the Allow button:

Authorize your Instagram Profile

Once you authorize with Google, you should also authorize with Instagram (Facebook).

Then, you should log in with a Facebook profile with access to the Instagram profiles you will report on.

You need to have a business or creator account on Instagram to view insights. Learn how to set up a business or creator account.

Select All accounts:

Scroll down and click the Next button:

Now, select All your Facebook accounts (or at least the ones related to your Instagram accounts):

Make sure everything related to Instagram insights and Facebook Pages is checked in YES and click the Done button:

Click the OK button:

Note: if mistakenly logged in with an incorrect account, you can disconnect your Facebook account and restart the process described before.

2) Configure your connector

Once you connect your Facebook profile, you will set up the connection with these parameters:

IG accounts: choose one or more Instagram profiles to bring to your report.

If you choose several profiles, the report will combine their data (i.e., it will bring the total followers from all the selected Profiles).

After you finish the setup, click the Connect button on the top-right corner of the page.

3) Load your report

You’ll see a list of the Instagram Insights connector's fields to Data Studio, then go to CREATE REPORT in the top-right corner of the page:

Finally, confirm the creation of your report by clicking the Create report button:

Our default report template will be automatically loaded.
