But first, what does a connection mean?

You pay for the connections you make with Google Data Studio, not apps.

An app is Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google My Business, etc.

A connection corresponds to the accounts within these apps. For instance:

  • Facebook Ads accounts

  • Facebook pages

  • Instagram Business accounts

  • LinkedIn pages

  • LinkedIn Ads accounts

  • Tik Tok Ads accounts

  • Twitter Ads accounts

For example:

If you would like to only report ONE Instagram page on Google Data Studio, you would need only one connection.

If your business would like to report its Instagram page, a Facebook page, and a Facebook Ads account to Google Data Studio, you would require 3 connections.

If your company wants to connect 5 Facebook pages and 5 Facebook Ads accounts to Google Data Studio AND Google Sheets, that would mean 20 connections: 10 for Data Studio and 10 for Google Sheets.

How to add new connections to your license?

A new connection will be added to your license when you select the account on Google Data Studio, and the data loads successfully.

We will just count your connections when you successfully connect data to your Data Studio report.

If you need to make an upgrade here is an article to guide you through.

How to check the connections associated with my Porter license?

Go to your Porter account.

In the "Sources" space, you can visualize:

  • All the apps that you have connected with Porter Metrics.

  • Their status (Active/Expired)

  • Add and delete sources options

How can I know the total of connections on my plan?

If you want to check how many connections you have on your plan, click on Sources.

You will visualize a list of the total of connectors that you have, and the number of connectors you are using.

How to remove connections?

You may want to remove connections when you don't want to make reports with them anymore and want to use that slot for other accounts in your Porter license.

Go to your Porter account and sign up

In the "Sources" space, you can visualize all the apps that you have connected with Porter Metrics.

You will see a list of apps sources that you have connected, If you want to delete them just click on the paper bin.

Remember:

  1. After we refresh the accounts on your Porter plan, You should only open the reports with the accounts you want to keep working with.

  2. If you open a report, associated with the connection you want to delete, They will reconnect and you need to make this process again.

Heads up: removing connections doesn't mean your Google Data Studio charts will stop working and you need to connect the data from scratch. Your reports will keep working normally.

When you go back to your reports the data will load and, if the connections weren't previously listed in your license, it will show the app in your account list.

If you see a problem related to your connections, like this, Here is an article to solve it.

Tip: If you are not sure which app source you want to delete, click on Reset all (connector name) accounts.

Remember: after we refresh the accounts on your Porter plan, you should only open the reports with the accounts you want to keep working with.
